FAQ about services at HOTC

Get Informed

We're sure you have a lot of questions before you interact with us. We will address everything. We have addressed a few of the issues through our previous experience. Please do not be afraid to ask more questions.

What to expect during your first appointment with HOTC?

The first therapy session for your child will involve an assessment.
Standardized testing, play-based observations, details about the patient's medical history, and/or a parent report are typically included in evaluations. A number of documents will be given to you to complete. Making a list of any worries or inquiries you have and bringing it with you is also a good idea. At least one parent must be present during the first therapy session with your child and the therapist. The first therapy session may occasionally last up to two hours.

What should I bring with me to the first consultation for my child?

You must obtain all of the child's records. It could include the child's medical records, the mother's delivery card, a school letter, and a referral letter from authority. Any photographs, videos, or projects that highlight the child's strengths are a good idea.

Do we have to wait in line for a long time to receive therapy?

No.

We have an appointment system in place. To avoid inconvenience, we do not encourage walk-in appointments.

What is duration of therapy session?

A typical therapy session lasts 45 minutes. You have the entire time, space, and therapist to yourself.

We have longer sessions, such as 60 and 90 minutes. It will be determined by your child's needs.

What is the method of payment?

You can pay in cash, by check, or by credit card. A bank QR code can be used to make an online transfer.

For the regular therapy sessions, we have adopted a monthly advance payment policy. Don't be concerned about the missed appointments. We do carry over missed sessions if they are cancelled in advance.

Do we receive a report following the consultation?

Yes, you will receive a report once the entire evaluation process is completed. Sometimes the entire evaluation takes several sessions. In that case, you will receive it after the entire assessment is completed.
We do send out reports via email and WhatsApp.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy is a client-centered health profession that promotes health and well-being through occupation. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in daily activities.

What is physical therapy?

Physical therapists are movement experts who help people live better lives by prescribing exercise, providing hands-on care, and educating patients.

What is remedial educaton?

Remedial education is used to assist students in improving key academic skills such as literacy and numeracy.

Do you prescribe orthotic devices.

Yes.

Orthotic devices can help to support weak muscles while walking. They also help to slow the progression of tightened tendons or muscles, which become shorter over time. Furthermore, these devices can improve comfort.

Some devices we make it in the clinic itself based on your measurements.

Who looks after the clients?

Clients are cared for by qualified, licenced, and experienced professionals. We do not encourage interns, observers, or trainees to participate in client care.

Do you let animals inside the clinic?

No.

Pets are not permitted inside our clinic.

Are there any freebies available with the services?

Yes.

We offer FREE TESTING in our Comprehensive Early Intervention package to facilitate early identification and early help for babies and families.

If you carefully consider your options, you will realize that you will benefit by more than Rs. 5000.

Once enrolled in this package, FREE TESTING with Bayley Scales of Infant Development, Sensory Profile, or Developmental Profile will be performed as needed for the baby. Valid for babies under the age of nine months.

We occasionally announce a free camp for consultation or public awareness. However, you must regularly check this page for updates.

What is Sensory Integration Therapy?

Sensory Integration is a theory and practise that focuses on a person's ability to process and integrate sensory information from their body and surroundings.

Sensory Integration Therapy (ASI®) employs individually created tasks that provide "just right" challenges to an individual's existing sensory processing and motor planning patterns, as well as encouraging mobility and self-organization in time and space.

To develop adaptable behaviour, ASI® blends specialist equipment and materials into purposeful and entertaining activities.

A trained individual will always be required to assess the issue, pinpoint it, then plan and carry out the intervention.

What kinds of services does HOTC provide for children?

HOTC provides family-centered Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. We assess the baby and family needs based on family concern and the reason for referral. We conduct a thorough evaluation. Clinical evaluation, administration of standardized tests, and follow-up evaluation are all part of the process of planning and monitoring the effects of the intervention.

Pediatric occupational therapists assist children in becoming as self-sufficient and functional as possible in age-appropriate daily routines and activities. Occupational therapists work on a wide range of motor skills, play skills, cognitive functioning, and sensory processing to help their bodies interpret information from their surroundings so they can better understand their world. Occupational therapists frequently collaborate with families and teachers to provide strategies for their child to be as functional and independent as possible in all environments.

Physical therapists are experts in the musculoskeletal system and how the body moves in children. Physical therapists frequently assist children with mobility issues, gross motor skill development, and orthopaedic conditions. The goal is for children to be as mobile in their lives as possible. They will address any issues that may be affecting a child's movement, posture, or body alignment.

Therapists  address following skills

  • Executive functioning skills (i.e., memory, attention, organization), Visual motor and perceptual skills

  • Fine and gross motor skills, Range of motion, flexibility, Body awareness, Strength and endurance, Balance and coordination, Gait, Motor planning,

  • social skills,

  • Play skills,

  • Self-regulation,

  • Sensory Integration,

  • Activities of daily living skills (i.e., dressing, grooming, feeding),

Standardized Tests

A few of the standardized tests we use to pinpoint the root cause of your concern are as follows:

Development Assessment

The primary goal of development assessment is to evaluate and identify critical aspects of a child's development, such as strengths and challenges that emerge in different spheres of influence. This includes cognitive, social, linguistic, emotional, and physical development, as well as a variety of adaptive behaviours such as self-care and self-direction. A standard psychometric assessment can also be used to evaluate a child's development in a number of areas. We use

Bayley Scales of Infant Development (BSID)

Developmental Profile

What exactly do therapists in NICUs do?

In the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), we provide the following therapy services.

We routinely perform neurobehavioral, feeding, sleep, and environmental assessments. Following that, we intervene in the following categories as needed. To achieve our objectives, we employ a variety of devices.

- Oral Motor Stimulation & nonnutritive Sucking.

- Positioning

- Cue based feeding

- Neurophysiological Based Intervention

- Age-appropriate stimulation to the babies

- Activities of daily living

 Developmentally Supportive Care

- Unit-wide education for

Neurodevelopmental Care in NICU including parental education.

We provide all of this through our one-of-a-kind strategy, INDIA EBUS.

What is Neonatal Therapy?

The art and science of integrating a baby's and family's normal development into the NICU environment is known as neonatal therapy. From the fields of occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech language pathology, it incorporates theories and practise areas.

When do we receive reports following the assessment?

Almost immediately. For review and analysis, we employ the most recent technologies. We immediately brief the important stakeholders after the evaluation. We immediately provide the report for your information via electronic media.

What does Color Comfort in the NICU mean?

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a complex environment with a wide range of demands. Health care workers, infants, and families all experience stress on a regular basis. According to research, parents experience higher levels of emotional distress both during and after their baby's hospital stay in a NICU.
People's responses to colour can be both biological and psychological. It's all about capitalising on it. Our biology and mood are subtly altered by them.

The staff and families will be impacted by the bright HOP Baby positioning system used throughout the facility. While introducing "Colour Comfort in the NICU," we have been considerate of these.

Who takes advantage of HOTC's services?

Mulund, Dombivli, and Kalyan will undoubtedly benefit. However, families from all over Mumbai and the surrounding areas come here as well.
People from various Indian states also come to the clinic for consultation. They return on a regular basis to obtain an updated home programme. Families visit Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh, to name a few states.
People from all over the world come here for consultation and therapy. Families from Australia, Germany, Sri Lanka, Sweden, South Africa, and London have frequently visited.

Testimonials

What They’re Saying

We collect feedback from our clients on a regular basis. Just to find out how they feel about the therapy and what the benefits of the intervention are. Here are a few examples: We do not change the wording. However, in order to maintain confidentiality, it is preferable not to reveal the identity.

Playing with Baby

Hi Team,

My baby was born prematurely and was advised by our pediatrician to seek advise on the muscle tone for the baby.

Since then, it has been an year journey for the baby and the team of therapists who guided us through and helped him achieve, all his milestones successfully.

Dr. Hemant had observed stiffness in the baby's muscle tone and suggested to initiate pre-intervention with his detailed explanation. His expertise in the subsequent follow ups helped us to understand the progress that we are making for the baby.

Dr. Pritam enabled us to understand the hands on exersise that we needed to do at home along side his sessions that we had in a week. The baby started showing progress in terms of achieving his milestones after every fortnight sessions.

Dr. Mrugesh along with his weekly sessions, helped us to understand the baby psychologies and tricks to perform certain exercises that were important for the baby to achieve the milestones.

Overall, we would like to thank Dr. Hemant, Dr. Pritam and Dr. Mrugesh for helping us to understand the importance of therapy sessions and helping the baby achieve his milestones on time. It was certainly not an easy journey, but it was totally worth it, considering baby's future.

I would like to conclude with 2 powerful quotes by the legends:

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” George Bernard Shaw

“Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable. Every step toward the goals requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.” Martin Luther King.

Regards,

Master A
